EXPERIENCE

James’ career began in 1999 with Allsop LLP working in the City Investment and Agency Division.
In 2016 he was made an Equity Partner in the City Investment and Development Team.

James has considerable experience of dealing with City Investment and Development Transactions. He acquired 1-3 Dorset Rise, EC4 for private clients in 2001 for c. £73m and arranged its onward sale 24 months later for £85m.

Other notable deals include the acquisition of Senator House, 85 Queen Victoria Street, EC4 a 150,000 sqft building on behalf of Resolution Holdings, where he also oversaw its subsequent sale. He has bought and sold many buildings on behalf of private clients, UK institutions and major REIT’s such as Land Securities, British Land and Derwent London.

RECENT PROJECTS / ASSIGNMENTS

In 2014 James purchased the Inmarsat building at 99 City Road, EC1 a 162,000 sqft HQ building, overlooking the Old Street Roundabout, on behalf of London & Regional. He bought and sold the 100,000 sqft Dept. W Building on Mile End Road, E1 for Resolution to Schroders and has recently acted on behalf of Standard Life to buy 100 Leman Street, E1, a 100,000 sqft office building in Aldgate and Empire House on City Road, EC1 which comprises a long let hotel investment. Other notable transactions are the sale of Dixon House on Fenchurch Street, EC3 to GreenOak for c.18M, the purchase of 1 Commercial Street, E1 on behalf of Angelo Gordon and Hondo Enterprises for £46M and the sale of the consented office scheme at 111 Cannon Street.

James has acted for Receivers on the sale and redevelopment of assets such as the Kings Reach Tower, SE1 complex for £60m and the High Holborn Estate, WC1 for £45m as well as the very recent purchase of 133-137 Whitechapel High Street, E1 for £26M on behalf of the City of London Corporation. James also acted for Resolution Properties on the recent sale of Alphabeta for £280M to Sinar Mas Land.
